Senior Computer Services Technician

Primary Location: Windsor, Connecticut
Additional Locations: CT-Windsor

Description:
Provide IT Computer Services with a high level of technical support in the management and operation of our computing environment through the effective administration and use of standard monitoring tools, processes and procedures needed to achieve a highly available infrastructure.

Fundamental Components:

·
Proactively partners with Production Services,
project management and IT Infrastructure peers to ensure application
availability, reliability, efficiency and performance are met.



·
Adheres to all processes, procedures, tools, and
controls for service delivery and service support functions.



·
Change and Problem Management: - Assists with
implementing new technologies, business/system integrations, procedural and
application changes in the computing infrastructure environment. - Responds to
daily operational issues maintaining high level of standards by mitigating
problems/failures and recommending proactive solutions to help prevent
recurrence.



·
Technology: - Possesses knowledge of
computer/network infrastructure, environmental hardware/software, and the
relationships related to Engineering/Production Services organizations.



·
Effectively identifies improvements.



·
Consistently takes on a technical role during the
recovery of hardware, software or processing incidents.



·
Maintains significant knowledge of Problem Management
tools and assists in resolution.



·
Provides project leadership on simple to
moderately complex business or IT initiatives.



·
Demonstrated strong communication skills used to
gather and share accurate and complete documentation, communicate problem
situations, turnovers and recaps to the areas responsible via Service Center
(ITSM), e-Mail, documents and shift notes in a professional and timely manner.



Background Experience:

Bachelor's degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, or Management Information Systems. New graduates are encouraged to apply.
Demonstrate teamwork, positive attitude, and good rapport with peers and customers.
Demonstrate leadership and problem solving abilities.
Technical knowledge in the computing environment (examples - Mainframe, Midrange, Distributed Server, Network and Intranet/Internet WEB environments) and familiarity with programming languages required to use/support Computer Services tools.


Additional Job Information:
Ability to work effectively with business partners, other IT organizations and management.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Project management and analytical skills is a plus.
