Product Strategy Senior Manager (Telework)

Primary Location: Hartford, CT
Additional Locations: CT-Hartford, FL-Tampa, IL-Chicago, OH-New Albany, PA-Blue Bell, TN-Franklin, TX-Houston
Creates and deploys winning Medicare Advantage product strategies and manages product innovations portfolio to increase and retain Aetna membership. Oversees product strategy and management, ensures product innovations strategies are integrated within company/business unit strategy and operational plans, and manages staffing planning and development activities across teams, including selection and development of Product Strategy Managers. Represents Product strategic issues with Senior Management.

Fundamental Components:
(*) Maintains mastery-level understanding of Aetna Medicare individual plan strategy, legal, and regulatory environment.

(*) Analyzes, interprets, and builds information on customer trends, competitor moves, and product performance.

(*) Generates unique and actionable insights to drive strategy.

(*) Demonstrates mastery-level understanding of key drivers of product performance including holistic, integrative view of all other functions, i.e. member materials, sales, distribution, marketing, and Aetna Medicare business processes.

(*) Advanced ability to manipulate data, understand patterns, and draw conclusions in a hypothesis driven approach to analysis.

(*) Oversees/leads the development of rigorous strategic/economic business cases for short-term enhancements, maintenance fixes and/or new products that are breakthrough and positioned to win in the marketplace, including 3-year roadmaps.

(*) Substantiates strategy with rigorous analysis and data/research, including milestones, success metrics, and objective, high-level benefits, e.g., membership, revenue, medical cost saving projections.

(*) Mastery-level understanding of strategy implications in context of other products and member-facing tools.

(*) Ensures team(s) product strategies are articulated in a compelling manner customized for different stakeholders including laying out facts / data in easily digestible format and drawing clear conclusions.

(*) Provides direction, input and thought leadership into broader strategy work.

(*) Builds and leverages strong relationships and removes barriers; supports team in navigating and working across business areas.

(*) Identifies and helps employees mobilize cross-functional support required to achieve business objectives, including areas of tactical and strategic support.

(*) Oversees multiple competing products/projects with effective prioritization and eye for detail.

(*) Takes full accountability for end result, serves as product expert, and leverages all resources available to achieve objectives.

(*) Maintains environment and reward system that encourages initiative, learning and empowerment. Identifies long term needs of the organization and establishes succession plans for key personnel.

(*) Articulates performance expectations and team objectives while collecting and interpreting balanced measures to evaluate team performance.

Background Experience:
(*) 4-7 years hands-on experience with Medicare Advantage product development and implementation, bid filing and strategic planning.

(*) Leadership experience or 7+ years of strategy, management, and leadership experience.

(*) Undergraduate degree in Business, Economics, Econometrics, Healthcare, Finance, Engineering, or equivalent required.

(*) Top tier MBA, MPH, MPA, MPP preferred.

Must have and impart a sense of urgency with key business partners.Requires ability to be innovative and resourceful in developing solutions.Key skills are external focus, strategic thinking, communicating for impact, collaboration, and driving for results.
