Senior Director, Business Development

Position Summary/Mission

These are the professionals who help us build our business in the national accounts, middle markets, small group markets, distribution channel, group insurance and specialty products areas. Their goal is to meet customer needs and help them make better decisions and about their health care and health care spending.

Position Summary

To manage Aetna's sales, service, and retention efforts for global products in an assigned region to achieve profitable growth and earnings targets. To manage operational goals and maximize efficiencies.
Reporting to the CEO of Asia Pacific of Aetna International, the Head of Business Development has the responsibility to grow Aetna’s business in Singapore, directly and through the development and management of strategic partnerships.

Fundamental Components & Physical Requirements:

Profitably grow Aetna’s business in Singapore

• Accountable for achieving sales result in Singapore

• Direct management responsibility for new business Sales team in Singapore

• Develop specific, coordinated plans to target and win new prospects within assigned territory

• Cultivate long term, key partner relationships and position Aetna as optimal solution provider

• Expand distribution reach in traditional broker channel by cultivating broker relationships at country and regional level

• Identify and develop growth opportunities, including:

o Strategic partnerships with insurance companies and other distribution partners

o Preferred Partner Agreements with regional brokers

o Portfolio transfer opportunities with insurers, brokers, and Managing General Agents (MGAs)

o Potential acquisition targets

• Lead the sales effort on large, cross-regional sales opportunities

• Represent Aetna as needed at external events, speaking opportunities, and media opportunities

Support the development of the overall growth strategy for Singapore

• Develop/maintain expertise on products, industry and emerging marketplace trends; share relevant industry and competitive data within and across business units and segments

• Develop & communicate a growth strategy in cooperation with key stakeholders

• Develop business cases for top ideas in support of prioritization of opportunities

Build and inspire internal capability

Drive a culture of engagement and collaboration

Work collaboratively across multiple functional leaders and stakeholders across the country, regional, and international organization; identify interdependencies, obtain necessary support, and achieve business objectives

10% Travel

Background Experience Desired:

* 10+ years’ experience in key account sales, client management, business development or related field

* Experience with enterprise-wide and/or cross-functional large-scale initiatives with high degree of complexity

* Demonstrated relationship management, negotiation, and large deal closure skills at the senior levels within an organization and externally

* Experience successfully managing diverse teams across multiple geographies

* Excellent presentation skills

* Fluent in written & spoken English

Education and Certification requirements:

*College degree or relevant career experience to quantify that level

* Appropriate sales licensure or certification
