Position Summary
Opportunity to join a leading Health Care innovation company helping people on their paths to better health. In addition to a dynamic growth opportunity this role is responsible for the sourcing and negotiation of enterprise IT operations requirements including a heavy emphasis on IT Labor, as well as Hardware, Software, Services and related Maintenance and Services supporting the business.

The Advisor, IT Category Manager is responsible for the creation and delivery of high-value sourcing strategies across CVS Health’s IT portfolio. The ideal candidate is known as a category subject matter expert, a thought leader and has professional credibility within the IT portfolio. Ideal category expertise will include experience with in-depth IT Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Management. The Category Manager will take on leadership of their projects and mentor a combination of Category Managers and Category Analysts. This role will report to the Director, IT Strategic Sourcing and Supplier Management.

Fundamental Components:
Required Qualifications
  1. The Advisor, IT Category Manager operates as part of a collaborative team where there will be considerable interaction with suppliers and cross-functional stakeholders. The candidate must be effective in working with stakeholders at all levels, including senior stakeholders. A passion for stakeholder service excellence is a prerequisite.
  2. 5+ years of relevant category experience in a procurement/strategic sourcing environment or an equivalent amount of combined experience in the procurement/strategic sourcing industry.
  3. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of developing and delivering category strategies that create value for stakeholders. A deep understanding of related procurement practices and processes is required.
  4. Demonstrated success managing senior IT stakeholders and leadership.
  5. Experience developing and implementing strategic sourcing solutions.
  6. Understanding of supply markets and strategic sourcing principles as related to specific sourcing categories.
  7. Ability to identify, assess and mitigate risk.
  8. Excellent business development and customer relationship skills.
  9. Well organized and able to work on multiple tasks within a fast-paced environment.
  10. Self-motivated and ambitious, ability to operate without supervision.
  11. Collaborative team player.
  12. First-rate documentation skills, willingness to maintain audit trails to substantiate and demonstrate assumptions.
  13. Experience with various sourcing and procurement practices and tools (i.e. 7 Step Sourcing Process, Ariba), and ability to lead/support efforts to enhance the value of purchasing to the client.
  14. Demonstrated success using analytical skills and written/verbal communication skills.
  15. Experience with business negotiations, from vision through to close.
  16. Experience working with Microsoft Office, at advanced levels.

Background Experience:
Preferred Qualifications
  1. The individual will have best-in-class category knowledge, including depths into relevant sub-categories, and demonstrated thought leadership and professional credibility.
  2. Experience and knowledge across multiple categories.
  3. Experience working directly for technology hardware, software and/or services providers in a consulting, project management, contract management and/or relationship management capacity.
  4. Experience within the Retail and/or Healthcare Industries.
  5. Certified Purchasing Manager (CPM) or Certified Public Purchasing Officer (CPPO) is a plus.
  6. MBA Preferred

Education
4 year degree from an accredited College or University or equivalent years of related professional experience.
