Aetna (a CVS Health company) is seeking an experienced professional skilled in electronic security systems and technology, operational security, and incident response/management. The Senior Director will support the Vice President of Corporate Security and Resiliency and the entire security management team in maintaining the overall safety and security of Aetna’s people, facilities, and assets. In addition, this individual will manage physical and information security personnel and oversee the Electronic Security Systems program and the Corporate Security Operations Center (CSOC), plus manage global response efforts and support business resiliency initiatives. The ideal candidate must possess the ability to foster a collaborative approach to achieve strategic goals in a manner consistent with Global Security and Resiliency’s practices and control standards.

Fundamental Components:
Key responsibilities:
  • Direct physical security technology initiatives and strategies – using an all-hazards, risked-based approach – while ensuring security measures and processes are aligned with and support the Company’s business objectives
  • Coordinate security response activities – including technical measures – to ensure they appropriately address the direct effects of an event or incident
  • Integrate convergence planning, both physical and cyber, into core security and business functions
  • Evaluate security technology and program processes to effectively protect Company assets from adversarial threats
  • Monitor emerging technology and develop appropriate implementation strategies across the enterprise
  • Manage the CSOC and develop operational guidelines to improve overall effectiveness in monitoring, managing, and responding to various security-related events and incidents
  • Conduct research to identify potential areas of operational improvement and provide findings through written reports to various internal stakeholders
  • Assess and catalogue all threats directed at Company executives, officers, employees or facilities
  • Monitor global indicators and alert systems to ensure event/incident details are transmitted, escalated and responded to in an efficient and timely manner
  • Develop meaningful metrics that effectively measure key performance indicators and enhance model-driven solutions and techniques
  • Partner and develop collaborative relationships across the Global Security and Resiliency management team for program sponsorship and resources to ensure short- and long-term goals are achieved
  • Prepare and conduct security-related training programs
  • Maintain effective working relationships with law enforcement, intelligence and other related government agencies, and private sector security groups
  • Develop and manage security strategic plans and associated forecasts and budgets
  • Perform other duties as assigned


Background Experience:
Education/Experience:
  • BA or BS degree required
  • Minimum of ten years of related experience in law enforcement, the military or corporate security required
  • Master’s or advanced degree/certification in related field preferred
  • Minimum of five years of management experience overseeing operational security programs and personnel required

  • Knowledge/Skills:
  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and communication (both verbal and written) skills, as well as the ability to work and collaborate within the various Aetna business units and across all levels of employees, including executives
  • Sound technical skills and demonstrated aptitude for information analysis
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective professional relationships with diverse groups of individuals and functions, both internal and external
  • Ability to adhere to instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagrammatic form
  • Strong working knowledge of the core concepts of corporate security, physical security technology and incident response/management – operational experience in these key areas is required
  • Ability to efficiently manage and complete multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Instructional and supervisory capability and adaptability required
