Fundamental Components:
Aetna Digital is looking for a Data Engineering Manager to join our Data Platform team in SoHo, New York City.

As a Data Platform Manager, you'll be responsible for leading multiple Agile teams dedicated to delivering the functional features as well as providing continuous improvement and innovation. You will participate in detailed technical design, development and implementation of applications based on the Oracle platform and other emerging technologies. Working with Aetna Digital architecture team, you will provide input into architectural design decisions, to ensure that the applications we build is secure and scalable. You'll have the responsibility to mentor engineering leads as well as data engineers to develop their leadership as well as technical knowledge and skills.

The Job:

  • Lead strategy and planning sessions with product managers and scrum team leads for approved initiatives

  • Communicate with other application managers and scrum team leads crossing the value stream for crossing functional coordination

  • Clarify expectations with scrum team leads and team members and other stakeholders, and continually manage those expectations throughout the program incremental (PI)

  • Manage the team to identify and resolve the issues surfaced through the entire SDLC in the timely manner

  • Ensure on-time and on-budget delivery of PI according to commitment

  • Lead the data engineering team to build next generation data platform using modern architecture and design concepts, including the distributed computing capabilities based on Cloud technologies.

  • Leveraging DevOps techniques and practices like Continuous Integration (CI), Continuous Deployment (CD), Test Automation, Build Automation and Test-Driven Development to enable the rapid delivery of working code utilizing tools like Jenkins, Maven, Nexus, Git and Docker



Background Experience:

Basic Qualifications:

  • Master degree in Computer Science or related field

  • Professional work experience in Big Data development/ Data warehousing

  • Professional ETL design, development and implementation experience
    Professional experience with Oracle data platform.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience with Apache Spark

  • 3+ years Python development experience

  • 3+ years of Agile engineering experience

  • 2+ years of experience with Cloud computing (AWS)

  • 2+ years Java knowledge and development experience

  • 4+ years of experience with Relational Database Systems and SQL

  • 4+ years of UNIX/Linux experience
