Vocational Case Manager- Workers Compensation MCRSP

Primary Location: Linthicum, Maryland

We are seeking self-motivated, energetic, detail oriented, highly organized, tech-savvy Registered Nurses to join our Workers’ Compensation Field Case Management team. Responsible for assessing and analyzing an injured employee to evaluate the vocational needs required to facilitate the patient’s appropriate and timely return to work. Acts as a liaison with patient/family, employer, provider(s), insurance company.

Fundamental Components:
Assesses and analyzes an injured employee’s vocational status; develops a plan of care to facilitate the patient’s appropriate and timely return to work. Interviews patient’s in their homes, work-sites, or physician’s office to provide ongoing case management services. Conducts vocational testing, job site analysis, job development, counseling and placement to manage patient’s return to work status; monitors patient progress toward desired outcomes through assessment and evaluation. Communicates both in-person and telephonically with patient, medical providers, attorneys, employers and insurance carriers; prepares all required documentation of case work activities. Arranges referrals, consultations and therapeutic services for patients on a PRN basis; confers with specialists concerning course of care and treatment. Develops and administers educational and prevention programs. Adheres to all laws and regulations that apply to the provision of rehabilitation services; applies all special instructions required by individual insurance carriers and referral sources. Testifies as required to substantiate any relevant case work or reports. Performs other related duties as assigned.

Background Experience:
3 years' case management experience required.
Excellent analytical and problem solving skills
Ability to work with a multidisciplinary team
Proficiency with standard corporate software applications, including MS Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint, as well as some special proprietary applications.
Ability to travel locally as required.
Knowledge of workers compensation and disability industry.
Knowledge of laws and regulations governing delivery of rehabilitation services.
Effective communications, organizational, and interpersonal skills.

Bachelor's degree in a closely-related field, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Certification with the state Workers Compensation Court required where dictated by state law, required MCRSP (Maryland Certification for Rehabilitation for Service Providers)..
Additional national professional certification (CRC, CDMS, CRRN, COHN, or CCM) preferred, but not required.

Additional Job Information:
Must reside in Maryland.

This is a fast paced position in which the vocational case manager will participate in marketing events to drive new referrals, will perform job searches per directions of each referral, conduct a comprehensive Labor Market Survey that reflects the job searches, will visit employers to verify availability of the job, will develop a job analysis of each job and will provide testimony in court regarding the findings of the Labor Market Survey. Job placement. This is not a 9-5 job, there are situations when additional time will be required to complete rush requests for our customers. This will start as a 30 hour a week position and if case load increases can go up to 40 hours.

The ideal candidate will have experience with Maryland workers compensation laws and the Maryland workers compensation court system. The ideal candidate will have experience as a Vocational Rehabilitation counselor. This position requires frequent testimony, the ideal candidate will be comfortable going to court and providing testimony before the Maryland Workers Compensation Commission. The ideal candidate will regularly research the local job market to identify available positions, will reach out to local employers to verify availability of jobs, will develop an accurate job analysis of each position.
