The Aetna Clinical Policy Unit (CPU) team has growing needs due to an increase in new technology review requests, integration of Aetna Clinical Policy Bulletins (CPB) with CVS-Caremark coverage policies, and upcoming and ongoing audits. The CPU currently has an opening for an administrative professional supporting our Project Lead and team.

Fundamental Components:
Job Title – Project Lead Assist, Clinical Policy Support
  1. Medical editor (30 percent) – This role will be responsible for editing content, including but not limited to:
  • Proofreading and formatting Clinical Policy Bulletins (CPBs)
  • Rewriting and reworking CPBs to make them more readable (i.e. adding subheadings, creating tables)
  • Editing and formatting other Clinical Policy Unit and Quality Department documents, such as internal policy guidelines, processes, procedures, agendas, and minutes
  1. Web editor (30 percent) - This role will be responsible for preparing Clinical Policy Bulletin (CPB) content and other CPU documents for publication on the internet.
    • Ensuring that content meets all Aetna.com standards for style and accessibility
    • Publishing CPBs and related documents on the Aetna internal and external websites, consistent with formatting and publication guidelines
  1. Project manager (30 percent) – This role will be responsible for organizing, managing, and assisting the CPU and Quality Department with projects, such as:
    • Integrating Aetna CPBs with CVS-Caremark coverage policies
    • Transitioning selected internal operational policies and procedures to the CVS Health portal
    • Creating new Medicare versions of selected CPBs
    • Gathering documents and tracking distribution of documents for Clinical Policy Unit audits and legal investigations
    • Creating and sending CPB Updates newsletter and managing list of recipients
    • Monitoring and managing team Inbox for medical queries
    • Developing CPB update summary materials for executive management
  1. Administrative (10 percent) – This role will assist the CPU Team with other nonclinical administrative tasks, including:
    • Assisting the CPU team with meeting minutes and other related administrative tasks, as assigned
    • Creating and updating tracking sheets for CPB updates, revisions, and annual reviews
    • Retrieving references included in evidence submissions from PubMed for the CPU team to review
    • Assisting Legal and Audit teams by organizing and retrieving CPU meeting agendas and minutes
    • Requesting, recording, and tracking medical coding updates and notifications in a timely manner
      Scheduling CPU and Quality Department meetings and maintaining attendee lists


Background Experience:
Primary job requirements are administrative rather than clinical. The ideal candidate would have following skills:
Ability to use Microsoft Office products, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Organizational skills and attention to detail
Writing and Editing ability, including knowledge of grammar and ability to follow style guide, based on AMA Manual of Style

Medical Terminology knowledge
Experience with or willingness to learn web content management systems and / or experience with Teamsite, Adobe Experience

Manager, other web-based publishing applications
Experience with basic html
Familiarity using Sharepoint for document management
