Strategic Proposal Writer

Support the growth of Aetna membership by independently managing and developing customer-focused, strategically positioned questionnaire responses for Request for Proposals (RFPs). Strategic Proposal Writers work on a wide range of proposals for commercial constituents (brokers/consultants, prospects and customers).

Fundamental Components:
Strategic Proposal Writers are responsible for independently managing and developing strategic customer-focused questionnaire responses within proposals. This includes customizing existing content as well as editing standard responses to ensure alignment with overall case strategy. They work on a wide range of proposals for commercial constituents (brokers/consultants, prospects and customers).They are key contributors and help lead strategic discussions of product, program and network offerings in a collaborative effort with sales, underwriting and sales support team members, and other subject matter experts as appropriate. Strategic Proposal Writers also gather required sample materials from internal system resources. They are responsible for having a deep understanding of Aetna products and services as well as customer and market specific dynamics. Additional responsibilities include responding to proposal follow-up, completing ad-hoc requests, and participating in project initiatives. The successful candidate will have the ability to be creative, apply personal initiative in the development of comprehensive, high quality proposals, and manage the flow of incoming work with aggressive deadlines effectively and efficiently.

Background Experience:
We are seeking candidates with experience in marketing, communications and/or proposal writing. Knowledge of the health insurance industry is strongly preferred. An ability to interpret and understand the needs of the customer and work with other team members to create a compelling, well- articulated value proposition that aligns the products and programs we offer with the customer’s strategy is essential to success. We are looking for self-motivated team players who enjoy working in a dynamic and fast paced environment and have experience managing multiple priorities. The position requires an individual who can communicate very effectively verbally and in writing with all audiences, resolve problems, prioritize, multi-task, and build and maintain strong relationships with our field organization and subject matter experts throughout the company. Candidates must have excellent writing, proofreading, and editing skills. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and internet navigation is required. A college degree is highly desired and 3-5 years of project management, involving request for proposals.
