Senior Data Scientist

Primary Location: Hartford, Connecticut
Additional Locations: CT-Hartford

Participate in the design, build and management
of large scale data structures and pipelines for efficient
Extract/Load/Transform (ETL) workflows. Architect frameworks for data flow and
development of analytical and machine learning applications. Develop large
scale data structures and pipelines to organize, collect and standardize data
that helps generate insights and addresses reporting needs. Write ETL (Extract
/ Transform / Load) processes, design database systems and develop tools for
real-time and offline analytic processing. Collaborate with data science team
to transform data and integrate machine learning algorithms and models into
automated processes. Use knowledge in Hadoop architecture, HDFS commands and
experience designing and optimizing queries to build data pipelines. Use strong
programming skills in Python, Java or any of the major languages to build
robust data pipelines and dynamic systems. Build data marts and data models to
support Data Science and other internal customers. Integrate data from a
variety of sources, assuring that they adhere to data quality and accessibility
standards. Analyze current information technology environments to identify and
assess critical capabilities and recommend solutions. Experiment with available
tools and advise on new tools in order to determine the optimal solution given
the requirements dictated by the model/use case. Develop metadata architecture
and integrate with Aetna’s core IT environment. Interact with internal and
external peers and management to share highly complex information related to
areas of expertise and/or to gain acceptance of new or enhanced technology /
business solutions.

Fundamental Components:

Background Experience:

Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering,
Business Analytics or related field.

Minimum two years of machine learning,
IOT and data analytics experience.
Must have experience
with large scale search applications and building high volume data pipelines;

building data transformation and processing solutions;
and designing & optimizing queries against data in the HDFS environment.

Must have experience with the following tools/technologies: Hadoop architecture; HDFS commands; Java; Python; Hive;
Cassandra; Pig; bash shell scripts; UNIX utilities & UNIX Commands; and MySQL
and/or NoSQL.
