Investment Operations Reporting Senior Consultant

Primary Location: Hartford, CT
Additional Locations: CT-Hartford
Complete reporting and support functions for investment management services for the Company’s investment portfolio which consists of public and private bonds, hedge funds, private equity, money market, mortgage loan and real estate investments. Provide timely, high quality operational support, reporting and investment materials to internal and external customers and constituents.

Fundamental Components:
Prepare investment-related reports and schedules for customers and constituents, e.g., investment income results, variance analysis, income by asset type, realized capital gains/losses by asset type by external reporting segment, summary level investment reports, 10K/Q and Annual Statement schedules, and various ad hoc, miscellaneous reports. Develop in-depth understanding of business strategies toward the goal of developing net investment income and invested asset estimates by investment portfolios for Budgets/Strategic Plans/Forecasts to support business segments’ financial reporting and complete related investments reporting for Budgets/Strategic Plans/Forecasts. Provide analyses and documentation for internal and external audit requests. Handle more complex tasks and projects. Identify and implement process improvements and efficiencies. Ensure technology is used effectively and efficiently. Work cross-functionally with internal constituents to accomplish business objectives.

Background Experience:
Required qualifications:

4 or more years of experience in investments and management reporting.
Bachelors degree required; Preferably in Accounting or Finance.

Additional Job Information:
The position is dynamic and fast paced, with standard and ad hoc reporting changing based on market environment and trends. Candidates must have the ability to meet critical deadlines within tight timeframes, excellent written and oral communication skills, strong analytical skills, ability to identify and resolve problems and business issues. Constituents include Investment Management portfolio managers and credit analysts, Controllers Investment Accounting, Corporate Planning, Tax and SEC Reporting, Large Case Pensions, Healthcare and Long Term Care (business and actuarial) and the Company’s senior management. The position includes opportunities to work on investment reporting related activities when the Company expands product offerings and portfolios and/or acquires new companies, invests in new asset classes or changes investment management strategies to create value for our customers, CVS and our shareholders. Self-starter with the ability to work both independently and in a team environment and has demonstrated leadership potential. Individual must demonstrate significant attention to detail as data is used across the Company and levels within the organization and utilized to make critical business decisions. Excellent PC and Systems skills, including Excel(power user) and Excel4Apps.
