What it is

Aetna’s internship experience is known as the Summer Associate Program and is a nationally recognized experience. It is a great way to gain confidence, sharpen your skills, and make a valuable impact on our company’s mission to make a difference in people’s lives. Our program has been recognized for 3 consecutive years as a result of VAULT’sTop Internship Survey. 

Our Summer Associates gain valuable work experience and participate in: 

  • A cross-functional project that provides solutions to a real business issue Aetna is facing, and the chance to present their recommendations to senior leaders at the end of the internship

  • Community service initiatives

  • A guided mentoring program

  • Networking events

  • Discussions with senior leaders

Our Summer Associate Programs are a great way to gain confidence, sharpen your skills and make a difference. Many of our Summer Associates are offered jobs with Aetna after graduation.

What will you do?

  • Participate in utilization management and or transformational business projects, following from design through implementation

  • Apply workforce planning training to a clinical operations team of over 1,200 clinicians

  • Work with cross-functional teams to learn key business functions and or workflow processes and interdependencies within a project

  • Make recommendations in support of the project goals

  • Apply different project methodologies, using SAFe Scale agile practices

What do you bring?

  • Good written and verbal communication skills; Able to document and present information to various audiences and work in a team environment

  • Ability to navigate problems and roadblocks as they occur

  • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment

  • Results-driven focus and persistent work ethic

You’re eligible to apply if you:

  • Are currently enrolled in college, pursuing a relevant undergraduate degree with an anticipated graduation date of December 2019 or Spring 2020

  • Have a current cumulative GPA and major GPA of 3.0+

  • Have a willingness to relocate (if applicable) 

  • Have an interest in a full-time position with Aetna upon graduation
