Job Details

Application Software Delivery Advisor

Primary Location: Hartford, Connecticut
Additional Locations: CT-Hartford
  • Under general supervision, will guide, direct, and review the work of other systems analysis and programming personnel.
  • Formulates and defines system scope and objectives for assigned projects.
  • Devises or modifies procedures to tackle sophisticated problems considering computer equipment capacity and limitations, operating time, and form of desired results.
  • Responsible for program and system design, coding, testing, debugging, and documentation.
  • Acts as a specialist in business applications and/or multi-functional areas.
  • May be responsible for project completion and user happiness.
  • Provides focus on cross-application integration & solution design as needed to ensure release success.

Fundamental Components:
  • Leads or acts as chief technical contributor for translation of business requirements to technical specifications, application design and improvement.
  • Works closely with technical partners to coordinate and plan ongoing and scheduled system maintenance activities
  • Assist other team members who perform ongoing system maintenance, research, problem resolution and support tasks for existing systems.
  • Anticipate, analyze, and react to the impact changes to technology and/or products may have on the business and the computing environment.
  • Independently supports the implementation of systems into production, including integration of purchased solutions.
  • May set direction for Code Asset Management for an application or set of applications.
  • Acts as a knowledge source for identifying Aetna and individual application development standards.
  • Evaluate and identify issues and constraints pertaining to technology approach; coordinate evaluation of solutions to insure alignment to Aetna technology standards (such as security, database, etc.)
  • Ensures technology remains at current levels for enterprise tools and operational upgrades.

Background Experience:
  • 8 years’ experience in application program development in all phases of the systems development life cycle.
  • 6 years’ experience of task or team leadership in systems analysis and program development.
  • Basic understanding of vendor contract stipulations for outsourcing agreements.
  • Experience with application development/technology support packages, product/technology evaluations.
  • SAFe
  • Experience in delegation of tasks and leading development projects
  • Aware of emerging technologies and able to evaluate for appropriate use
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or related field or equivalent work experience.

Additional Job Information:
Knowledge of Industry Systems/Software Engineering processes and techniques.Strong leadership skills.Full technical knowledge of all phases of applications systems analysis and programming.Technical knowledge of various high level programming languages and program development software.In-depth knowledge of system and technology alternatives, as well as the system development life cycle.Extensive knowledge of the business area's function and systems.Ability to work effectively with business areas and IT management and staff.Strong judgment.Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
