Learning and Performance Instructional Designer

Uses a variety of educational media to design and develop state-of-the-art training tools and programs for designated Aetna audiences; assesses and reports on the effectiveness and ROI of training programs

Fundamental Components:



  • Uses
    formal instructional design methodology to design and develop
    performance-based training and educational tools.

  • Utilizes
    adult learning theory to create interactive, creative, and engaging
    learning content

  • Simultaneously
    manages multiple, complex projects

  • Consults
    with organization leaders, stakeholders, and SMEs to design, develop,
    implement, and evaluate effective learning interventions

  • Uses
    a variety of educational media to design and develop state-of-the-art
    training tools and programs

  • Assess
    and reports on the effectiveness and ROI of training programs

  • Conducts
    performance analysis to determine the expectations and gaps for the
    intended audience

  • Evaluates
    existing material for opportunities for updates and improvements

  • Partners
    with managers and subject matter experts to lead projects to streamline
    daily processes and create standard operating procedures, training
    documents, and quick reference guides.



Background Experience:



  • Formal
    instructional design methodologies and systems (e.g. ADDIE, SAM)

  • Strong
    understanding of adult learning principles

  • Project
    Management skills

  • Excellent
    oral and writing skills



  • Adobe
    Captivate, Articulate Storyline, and/or other eLearning authoring software

  • Microsoft
    Office Suite (e.g. Word, PowerPoint, Publisher)

  • Learning
    Management System (LMS) administration

  • Video
    production programs (e.g. Vyond, Camtasia, After Effects)
