Actuarial Director (Cred)

Primary Location: Chicago, Illinois
Additional Locations: AZ-Scottsdale, CT-Hartford, GA-Atlanta, IL-Chicago, MD-Bethesda, MN-Minneapolis
This person will support the Commercial actuarial needs of the Banner Health and Allina Health Joint Ventures, including Small and Large Group pricing, forecasting, results analysis network/medical cost analytics, competitive intelligence and market strategy. As part of both market leadership teams, this person will work very closely with the Sales, Finance, Underwriting, Network, Product and Medical Economics teams in both markets, as well as various actuarial teams.

Fundamental Components:
- Work with key business partners to make pricing recommendations, implement decisions and monitor results.
- Conduct semi-annual rate reviews for each segment, incorporating input from the various stakeholders into rate recommendations.
- Assist with Network and Medical Economics teams with network evaluations and impact of proposed strategies.
- Lead regular discussions with Network and Medical Economics, as well as discussions with Sales on a variety of topics.
- Partner with Finance team to understand emerging results and assist in Plan/Forecasting.
- Partner with Product and Sales teams to understand SG and LG competitive landscape and recommend market strategies.
- Occasionally present recommendations to Boards of Directors.

Bachelor's degree along with 7+ years related work experience
Must have ASA (Associate of the Society of Actuaries) or FSA (Fellow of the Society of Actuaries) certification and able to sign rate filings
Provider Contracting experience is highly desired
Small group &/or large group pricing experience
Joint Venture experience would be preferred
Demonstrated focus on process improvement and use of creative thinking to solve business challenges is desired
Ability to travel to Arizona & Minnesota will be required

The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.

Actuarial/Associate of the Society of Actuaries is required
Actuarial/Member, American Academy of Actuaries is required
Actuarial/Fellow of the Society of Actuaries is desired

Functional - Actuarial/Pricing: manual rate structure development/1-3 Years
Functional - Actuarial/Rating system development & support/1-3 Years

Technical - Desktop Tools/TE Microsoft Excel/4-6 Years/End User

Telework Specifications:
In office strongly preferred. Telework considered for internal workers currently in a telework arrangement. For external hires, Telework considered only for unique circumstances.
