Job Description:
Develop, implement, support, and promote Health Services strategies, tactics, policies, and programs that drive the delivery of quality healthcare to establish competitive business advantage for Aetna. Health Services strategies, policies, and programs are comprised of utilization management, quality management, network management and clinical coverage and policies.

Behavioral Health Specialist provides consultation and collaboration to medical nurses in case management and disease management programs, regarding engagement and treatment for BH co-morbidities. The mission of the position is to promote an overall holistic approach to the Aetna member, through a single point of contact, regarding all medical issues including behavioral health and chemical dependency issues. The BH Specialists serves as a consultant to the Aetna member-facing entity.

Fundamental Components:
Fundamental Components & Physical Requirements include but are not limited to

Provides consultation to nurses, working on medical cases, in regards to the assessment and awareness of BH co morbidities.
The BH Specialists leverages clinical assessment skills and treatment planning to coach and collaborate with the nursing staff to include BH co morbidity information in their work, with the patient, to facilitate the single-point-of-contact model.
Supports nursing staff with engaging members using motivation interviewing skills and serves as an MI champion.
Performs and monitors member impact and outcomes, as a result of this integration and collaborative process.
Maintains contact and outreach with nursing staff in order to adjust treatment interventions, etc. to achieve the desired results.


Background Experience:







Background/Experience Desired




3+ years post degree experience in a psychiatric or substance abuse setting required
5+ years experience in behavioral health required with preference given for prior managed care experience
Education and Certification Requirements




Masters or Doctoral degree in behavioral health field preferred
Registered Nurse with behavioral health experience/background OR unencumbered independent clinical behavioral health license required
