Fundamental Components:
Aetna Digital is looking for a Accessibility (A11y) Scrum Master with experience working in a fast-paced, startup like environment. As the SM of Accessibility Scrum team(s), you’ll work closely with the A11y Design and A11y Engineering teams to help manage and grow our digital platform and ecosystem by driving A11y into our integrated digital experiences. You will be an A11y champion across many teams, and will collaborate with product owners, engineering managers and leadership to mature the offering and ensure it exceeds the expectations of all customers and users

Responsibilities
Act as liaison between the stakeholders and A11y Engineering team
Help lead the team to success by working across groups to drive discussion & engagement in an agile software development life cycle
Promote transparency by helping communicate through SAFe/Scrum practices
Organize and facilitate daily stand-up meetings, reviews, retrospectives, sprint, train and release planning, demos and other Scrum-related ceremonies
Track and communicate team velocity and sprint/release progress
Maintain process documentation
Ensure the development teams are practicing the core agile principles of collaboration, prioritization, team accountability, and visibility
Update agile tracking systems to provide transparency on Product & Sprint Backlog
Recommend improvements and assist in changes to best practice
Support the development managers and project leads as necessary
Assist with internal and external communication, improving transparency, and radiating information
Assist team with making appropriate commitments through story selection, task definition
Identify and remove impediments, prevent distractions that interfere with the ability of the team to deliver the sprint goal
Facilitate discussion and conflict resolution
Empower the teams to self-organize
Improve the productivity of the teams in any way possible
Ensure the team strives to make each increment of functionality potentially shippable
Participate in the organization and planning of the development schedule based on methodology that has been developed to create a cohesive plan with identifiable critical path, task dependencies, and major milestones, and manages the agreed project plans and schedules, ensuring successful completion within scope, budget, time, and quality parameters


Background Experience:
5+ years as a scrum master working with and coaching agile teams
Agile SM certification
SAFe Experience
Excellent team player and team builder
Excellent interpersonal skills, ability to work with diverse personality types
Ability to work with minimal supervision in a very dynamic and timeline sensitive work environment
Thorough understanding of agile software development methodologies, values, and procedures
Ability to understand technical issues at a high level
Experience facilitating cross functional collaboration
Strong understanding of the software development lifecycle
Knowledge of Agile tracking tool like Rally, Teams, Confluence and other cooperation tools

Preferred Skills
Familiarity with standards, principles and techniques for meeting A11y success criteria (including WCAG 2.0 AA, WCAG 2.1 AA, and WAI-ARIA)
Familiarity with assistive technologies (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver)
Familiarity with Responsive Web Design and mobile apps
Ability to promote and share the importance of A11y
Understanding the overlap between user experience and A11y


EDUCATION
Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience
