Fundamental Components:
Principal Hadoop Developer
Aetna Digital, part of CVS Health, is looking for a Principal Hadoop Engineer with Java, Scala and/or Spark experience to help us leverage data management and protection from across the enterprise, the cloud and fog in order to ingest, transform, secure and deliver big data use cases into products focused on helping people live healthier lives.
In this role, you will use your experience in working on the latest big data technologies involving Hadoop ecosystem. As an experienced Hadoop developer, you will have very prominent role as he/she is responsible for ensuring that there is no roadblock to the smooth functioning of the Hadoop framework. The roles and responsibilities of this job profile resemble that of a System Administrator. A complete knowledge of the hardware ecosystem and Hadoop architecture is critical. You will be working in a cloud native/hybrid health care platform focused on helping people live healthier lives. You will be working as a member of one of our scrum teams in Burlington, MA, Hartford, CT or New York, NY.
You will work on cutting-edge applications and products, brainstorming with architects, product managers, data scientists and fellow engineers to build data products used improve the health outcomes of millions of people.
In this role you will be working on:
Design, develop, document, and architect Hadoop applications
Manage and monitor Hadoop log files
Develop MapReduce coding that works seamlessly on Hadoop clusters
Have working knowledge of SQL, NoSQL, data warehousing, and DBA
Be an expert in newer concepts like Apache Hive, Apache Spark and Scala programming
Acquire complete knowledge of the Hadoop ecosystem and Hadoop Common
Seamlessly convert hard-to-grasp technical requirements into outstanding designs
Design web services for swift data tracking and query data at high speeds Manage HDFS and ensure that it is working optimally at all times
Secure the Hadoop cluster in a foolproof manner
Test software prototypes, propose standards, and smoothly transfer them to operations
Participate in identification of solution security options and features
You will work directly with our Engineering and DevOps teams.

Background Experience:
What we are looking for: We develop real products. You need to be an expert in design, coding and scripting. We prioritize professional industry experience; advanced degrees alone do not replace real world experience We have massive scale. You need to have experience in distributed, scalable systems. You've worked with modern data storage, messaging, and processing tools and demonstrated experience designing and coding in big-data components. We love to collaborate and help each other, and we want someone to share that ideology We are and need other self-starters who can see the big picture and prioritize their work to make the largest impact on the business and customers vision and requirements.
You have excellent communication, leadership and collaboration skills
6-8 years software development in enterprise/ web/ cloud applications.
Rolling Patch upgrades for Hadoop Cluster without causing any downtime.
Screen Hadoop cluster job performances and capacity planning
Monitor Hadoop cluster connectivity and security
Manage and review Hadoop log files.
File system management and monitoring.
HDFS support and maintenance.
Must have experience with Unix/Linux systems with scripting experience
Must have experience in open source programming languages for large scale data
Diligently teaming with the infrastructure, network, database, application, and business intelligence teams to guarantee high data quality and availability.
Collaborating with application teams to install the operating system and Hadoop updates, patches, version upgrades when required.
Point of Contact for Vendor escalation
Exposure to Docker and Kubernetes is an advantage
Experience working with Agile, CI/CD
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience in Computer Science Engineering or Technology or related discipline.
