Product Management/Development Manager (Healthcare)

Primary Location: Hartford, CT
Additional Locations: CT-Hartford, MA-Boston, MA-Wellesley
  • Conduct competitive & market analysis, incorporate consumer insights, understand/apply benefit mandates and use this information to drive recommendations that maximize competitive advantage, sales and earnings.
  • Create data driven recommendations and drive consensus on product strategy that aligns with market goals and enterprise strategy.
  • Develop and maintain medical product portfolios for Aetna’s commercial business through a consultative, forward thinking approach with the local markets.
  • Design product portfolio to maximize competitive advantage, sales and earnings
  • Articulate product and market expertise to all stakeholders in strategy and planning sessions, and day to day interactions.
  • Demonstrate expertise on federal and state specific EHB rules and regulations, including all state-specific rules pertaining to HCR and product in assigned states
  • Effectively measure and communicate product performance; ensure we capitalize on greatest opportunity to maximum sales and earnings while simplifying our portfolio.
  • Enable product innovation by vetting new product concepts, facilitating dialogue to generate new ideas and raising those ideas for formal concept evaluation.

Fundamental Components:
Leverages in-depth knowledge and understanding of products across functions and market segments in directing the development and implementation of new product initiatives, including product enhancements.

Directs, evaluates and provides requirements/specifications for use of appropriate business processes and systems to support product initiatives.

Seek and maintain comprehensive understanding of internal and external environmental influences and competitive pressures to develop and enhance product portfolio.

Consult / drive effective product offerings to customers to meet organizational goals. Understand and track key financial performance indicators to ensure effective product portfolio performance.

Establish and manage large (or significant) cross-functional development and implementation work groups.

Anticipate resource needs, set priorities, establish accountabilities, define roles/responsibilities and manage relationships to secure necessary resources not under direct control.

May participate and/or conduct focus group sessions, broker briefings or one-on-one meetings with consultants, brokers, general agents and/or employer groups in support of sales efforts Interprets legislative, competitive and industry issues to recommend new products or product enhancements.

Work locations: Hartford, CT or Wellesley, MA offices.

Background Experience:
6+ years of related industry experience.

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience.
