We’re looking for a dynamic individual to fill a challenging yet rewarding opportunity building and deploying production ready applications on the Hadoop platform. We’re looking for someone that thrives on building systems that work…better, faster, with stability, reliability, and repeatability. Fundamental Components:
  • With limited direction, translates business requirements to technical specifications.
  • Contribute to the design of new programs and/or enhancements to existing apps.
  • Review application architecture and design to insure best in class solutions are put forth.
  • Code and unit test programs to insure high quality solutions are created.
  • Performs ongoing system maintenance, research, problem resolution and on- call support, according to defined plans or documentation for existing systems.
  • Communicate and cooperate with partners to insure infrastructure changes are planned and executed seamlessly.
  • Evaluate new technologies and skills to help the team grow and improve processing capabilities.
  • Apply industry wide understanding of technology, tools and methodologies to assist in developing solutions.
  • May assist business partners with User Acceptance Testing.
  • Supports processes related to the implementation of systems into production, including integration of purchased solutions.
  • Supports the Code Asset Management process.
  • Supports and promotes the reuse of assets across the organization.
  • Independently works on multiple projects and/or SRs and actively participates as a member of each project team supporting an application or set of applications.
  • Independently works on small and large moderately complex projects that require increased skill in multiple technical environments and disciplines, that have system wide impact and that may integrate across the organization.


Background Experience:
  • 5+ years’ experience in application program development
  • 5+ years’ of development expertise in Java or C++
  • 3+ years’ of development expertise in Unix Shell Scripting
  • 3+ years' SQL
  • 2+ years’ of development expertise in native Hadoop tools: MapReduce, Scala, Hive/HQL, PIG, Spark
  • 3+ years’ of relational database exposure.


Additional Job Information:
Ability to work effectively with business areas and IT management and staff.
Good judgment.

Demonstrates good written & verbal communication and presentation skills
