Aetna has an exciting opportunity for and in-house Counsel position to join Provider Litigation Team to assist in advancing the business objectives, interests and image of the company through various litigation activities.

Fundamental Components:
This position will be primarily responsible for:
  • Providing litigation support to, and working with, Aetnas Special Investigations Unit (SIU) in investigating and pursuing fraud, waste and abuse.
  • Responsibilities include, but are not be limited to, assisting SIU with complex cases and recommending the best course of action with regard to those cases, participating in conversations with providers and their counsel, interfacing with appropriate law enforcement agencies, interviewing and preparing witnesses for testimony, identifying providers that are engaging in improper activities, and managing proactive provider lawsuits seeking the recovery of overpayments through all phases of litigation.
  • In addition to these responsibilities, the candidate will be responsible for working on other provider litigation matters involving the enterprise when not supporting SIU.

  • A minimum of 8 years of litigation experience.
  • Candidate should be experienced in state and federal courts, preferably with healthcare industry experience.

    The highest level of education desired for candidates in this position is a JD.
