Senior Account Director- Northeast

Primary Location: Hartford, CT
Additional Locations: CT-Hartford, NJ-Middletown, NY-Albany
Provides strategic sales leadership to expand and maintain business relationships with existing large, complex accounts.

Fundamental Components:
The ideal candidate would be part of a national team of highly talented sales professionals who are responsible for the highest profile clientele in the country. The candidate will be responsible for growing the dental and vision brand both internally with equally talented professionals representing the Aetna Health product and externally with the nation’s top consultants and brokers. The geographic footprint (Northeast) would be extensive which will provide ample opportunity for high volume activity and significant opportunity for success. These prospects/consultants will be looking for complex solutions and collaborative partnerships that create solutions for the ever changing benefits environment. This will be exciting work with the opportunity to be a part of an operation capable of significantly impacting the companies results and receiving the commensurate recognition for their efforts. The opportunity is as significant as any offered in the industry.

Will be responsible for:
Meets growth sales production, retention and profitability objectives for assigned book of business. Develops and executes a comprehensive strategic plan which results in increased sales and maximized profitability by maintaining and expanding penetration of existing products and cross-selling other Aetna products. Updates external constituents on Aetna capabilities to create business opportunities and/or enhance the perception and understanding of Aetna capabilities. Delivers organized, polished presentations of solutions, with benefits tied to the constituent’s business needs. Identifies and capitalizes on emerging trends in the marketplace by participating in community and industry events as an Aetna representative. Builds and maintains productive relationships with plan sponsors and brokers/consultants. Reaches senior levels within a customer/consultant organization and tailors message to effectively engage senior executives. Shares relevant industry and competitive data within and across business units and segments to support the development of new product initiatives. Mentors and supports service team, peers, and sales team.

Background Experience:
7-9 years industry experience with complex national sales and/or client management. Licensure as required.College degree or equivalent experience.

Key attributes: A sales acumen certainly someone with confidence not overt.
Social…in the sense that they can easily work the room and be just as comfortable with the C-Suite as the support team.
Impatient…in that they want to get things accomplished now and are proactive versus patient and reactive or let things linger.
High Detail….gets the T’s crossed and I’s dotted and almost nothing falls through the cracks.
Emotionally controlled….takes thing in stride and will not lose their cool under stressful circumstances.
Big engine….this is really about stamina and being resolute, along with tireless in their pursuit of the objective.
And last but not least…they can sell the stuff….
